Today I had some time with two incredible people who energise, inspire and have me feeling good about life. It’s interesting how connecting with all round great people can influence your being and have a positive impact.

There is a saying that you are the some of the five people that you surround yourself with and last year I had experiences where this concept come to the fore but in a debilitating soul crushing way.

I would describe these people as toxic through their controlling, manipulative, dysfunctional behaviours. Every time they spoke to me it felt like I was drinking poison and gradually that liquid to seep into all of my being and I became a person that I didn’t really want to be or like. I also own my role in this but it highlights the people and environment you surround yourself with can have a huge impact.

This is about awareness of where you spend your time and what you consume. It’s not only about the people you are around but the social media you look at, what books you consume, the podcasts or gossip that you listen to.  You can’t always avoid the people you are around but it’s about how do you stop them from poisoning you and how you deflect the influence they are having. What do you need to do to protect yourself, how do you navigate the toxicity and chose something for yourself rather than being those who leave a bad taste in your mouth. Decide wisely where you spend your time and if you need to process what is happening for you in this regard, how about an art therapy session to detox.
